Caron One Pound: Taupe, Black and White (any worsted weight will do)
Circular Knitting Needles: 4.5mm [US 7]
Double Pointed Needles: 4.5mm [US 7]
Place Marker, Yarn Needle, 2 buttons, Sew Needle, Thread
US F Crochet Hook

GAUGE: 18 sts = 4”; 28 rounds = 4”
CHECK YOUR GAUGE. Use any size needle to obtain the gauge.


Using Taupe yarn CO: 80 sts. Place marker for beginning of round and join, being careful not to twist sts. Work in K2, P2 rib for 1 1/2”.

Next Round: Knit around until total length measures 6 3/4”.

Shape Crown:
Round 1: *K6, K2tog. Repeat from* to last st
Round 2: Knit
Round 3: *K5, K2tog. Repeat from* to last st
Round 4: Knit
Round 5: *K4, K2tog. Repeat from* to last st
Round 6: Knit
Round 7: *K3, K2tog. Repeat from* to last st
Round 8: *K2, K2tog. Repeat from* to last st
Round 9: *K1, K2tog. Repeat from* to last st
Round 10: *K2tog. Repeat from* to last st
Round 11: *K2tog. Repeat from* to last st
Break yarn leaving a tail for sewing up. Draw through remaining sts.

EYES (Make 2)
With White yarn ch 5.
sc in second ch from hook, sc in the next 2 sts. 4 sc in the last stitch. sc in the next 2 sts. 2 sc in next st. sc in the next 3 sts. 2 sc in next 4 st. sc in the next 2 sts.
sl st; sc in next 2 sts; sl st
sc in the next 3 sts. 2 sc in next 5 st. sc in the next 3 sts.
sl st; sc in the next 2 sts; sl st
sc in the next 5 sts. 2 sc in next 7 st. sc in the next 4 sts.
sl st in next 5 st.
finish off

TEETH (Make 2)
CH2; work 2 sc in 2nd ch from hook
Ch1 turn; work 2 sc in first st, sc in the next st
Finish off

MOUTH
CH 30; finish off


EYEBROW
CH 36; finish off

ASSEMBLY
Sew buttons to eyes using needle and thread.
Using yarn needle and black yarn, sew mouth onto hat just above ribbing in a frown shape. Use white yarn to sew teeth to the ends of mouth.
Use white yarn to sew eyes onto hat just about mouth.
Sew eyebrow onto to hat.

  2. You can sew them down flat or go up a hook size :)
